Difference between single beam crane and double beam crane

Difference between single beam crane and double beam crane

1、 Core structural differences

Quantity of main beams: A single beam crane is only equipped with one main beam, and the electric hoist is directly hung below the main beam for operation; The double beam crane is equipped with two parallel main beams, and the lifting trolley runs on the track above the two main beams.

Structural characteristics: The single beam structure is simple, lightweight, and easy to install and maintain; The double beam structure has stronger rigidity, better overall stability, and higher structural complexity.

2、 Weight bearing and performance differences

Lifting capacity range: The conventional lifting capacity of a single beam crane is below 20 tons, while a double beam crane can cover several tons to hundreds of tons, with a much higher heavy load capacity than a single beam.

Span range: The conventional span of a single beam crane is 3-20 meters, while the span of a double beam crane can reach 10-35 meters or even larger, suitable for large-span workshop scenarios.

Operating efficiency: Double beam cranes generally have faster operating and lifting speeds, higher working levels, and can adapt to high-frequency continuous operation scenarios.

3、 Cost and operational differences

Procurement cost: Single beam cranes require less material and have a lower overall cost. Under the same tonnage, the procurement cost is only 1/3-1/2 of double beams.

Operation method: Single beams are often operated using ground handles or remote controls, without the need for a dedicated operating room; Double beams with multiple supporting independent operating rooms provide higher operational accuracy and safety.

4、 Differences in applicable scenarios

Single beam crane: suitable for lifting lightweight materials in ordinary workshops and warehouses of small and medium-sized enterprises, suitable for low-frequency and small tonnage conventional operation scenarios.

Double beam crane: suitable for heavy industrial scenarios such as steel plants, ports, and large machinery manufacturing workshops, suitable for large tonnage, high-frequency, and continuous heavy load operation needs.
